Brookhaven is a very small diverse borough in the state of Pennsylvania which is located in the county of Delaware and has an excellent selection of shopping. It is close in proximity to I-95 and the Blue Route which makes it ideal for commutes to Phila, Delaware or New Jersey. Brookhaven has recently seen a little growth of new residents move to the town after a recent decline in people moving away a few years ago. The population has reached 8,043 with a population growth rate of 0.2% in the last year. It is 1.7 square miles in size. There are many young adults living here looking to start a family. However the median age of residents is 43 years of age. The average household income is $81K and the average home value is $250K. Brookhaven is surrounded by neighboring communities such as Parkside, Swarthmore, Aston, Media, Ridley Park, Lima and Springfield, Pa. With all of these communities so close by there is a myriad of things to do. There is great shopping at the Springfield Mall as well as the Brinton Lake Shopping Center in Glen Mills. It is 20 minutes south of Philadelphia which makes it a great location for access to the Lincoln Financial Field, the Phillies Stadium and the Wells Fargo Center for entertainment. In addition there is IceWorks in Aston and the Hedgerow Theater in Swarthmore. Linvilla Orchards in Media offers many festivals throughout the year. Downtown Media offers a large venue of restaurants on a small scale and “Dining Under The Stars” in the summer months.
